That was announced last April Ben Affleck and Matt Damon would make a film about the Nike shoe company. Since then, the film has assembled quite a cast, and now Deadline announces two more additions. Joel Gretsch and Gustaf Skarsgard are the latest to join the sports drama for Prime Video.

The currently untitled film is said to be about Nike’s former marketing manager Sonny Vaccaros efforts to sign Michael Jordan for a sponsorship in the 80s. The deal would ultimately propel the Nike brand to new heights of popularity and forever change the sneaker industry around the world. Vaccaro’s efforts were previously featured in the critically acclaimed documentary series about Jordan’s career The last Dance.

Gretsch has reportedly signed on to play the former Converse CEO John O’Neilwhile Skarsgård signed to play the founder of Adidas, Horst Dassler. They join Damon, who will play Vaccaro while Affleck plays the company’s co-founder Phil Knight. Gretsch and Skarsgård will join the ensemble cast that includes Jason Bateman, Viola Davis, Chris Tucker, Marlon Wayans, Matthew Maher, Chris Messina, tom dadand Julius Tennon.

Gretsch is known to the public mainly through appearances in shows the Vampire Diaries, v, and The 4400. He also had roles in films such as minority report, To pressand National Treasure: Book of Secrets. Skarsgård is a Swedish actor known for his work in series viking, Cursedand western world. He is shown next Christopher nolanupcoming movie Oppenheimerabout the invention of the atomic bomb.

The screenplay for the film, originally titled Air Jordan, was written by Alex Convery. It garnered a lot of attention in Hollywood when it was included in the “2021 Blacklist of Best Unproduced Screenplays,” which eventually led to its purchase. Damon and Affleck are also credited as the film’s writers, as the couple passed on the script when they were brought on board. Affleck will also direct the film, for the first time in the director’s chair since his 2016 gangster film live by night.

The currently untitled film is from Amazon Studios, Skydance Sports and Mandalay Pictures. The film’s producers include Affleck, Damon, Peter Guber, Jason Michael Berman, Jeff Robinow, Madison Ainleyand David Ellison. Additionally Jon Weinbach, Jesse Sisgold, Dan Goldberg, Don Granger, Kevin Halloran, Michael Joe, John Graham, Drew Vinton, Jordan Moldoand Peter E Strauss.
