8. Batman Forever (1995) -5.4
To Batman returns In 1992, Warner Bros. wanted to move away from the dark tone with the third film. The result was Batman forever, and it’s known today as a cult classic. Val Kilmer plays the titular caped Crusader and is joined by Tommy Lee Jones as Two-Face and Jim Carrey as the Riddler. Many fans claim Val is the most underrated Batman. The script was certainly sillier than the previous two, but still took itself seriously enough. Val as Batman is stern and gruff without being a copy of Michael Keaton. Of all the actors playing Batman, there are certainly performances worse than Kilmer.
7. Top Gun (1986) -6.9
The original top gun was almost immediately a cultural phenomenon. According to its IMDb score, it’s not nearly as good as the recent sequel, but it’s still a great film. Kilmer portrays Iceman, a fellow Top Gun student and competitor on Tom Cruise’s Maverick. Like Maverick, Iceman feels like the best, leading to several confrontations. By the end of the film, the two share a mutual respect for each other and their teamwork leads them to save the day. Kilmer doesn’t have many scenes here, but whenever he’s present, he’s sure to draw attention. Even against Cruise, Kilmer stands out as a phenomenal actor.
6. The Prince of Egypt (1998) -7.1
An animated musical version by Cecil B. Demille The Ten Commandments Doesn’t sound like a good idea for a movie. However, The Prince of Egypt is a great movie with beautiful animation and fantastic music. Val Kilmer provides the voice of Moses in the film and he does a phenomenal job. Kilmer hasn’t taken on many voiceover roles throughout his career, and that’s a shame. He is able to carry this film impeccably, being compassionate and kind in his role as Moses. He also delivers the voice of God by being commanding and threatening. That shows Kilmer’s range even when inanimate. This film is not talked about today as it should be. The Prince of Egypt should be seen by any animation or Kilmer fan.

When it comes to rock star biopics, few come close to Oliver Stone’s masterpiece The doors. The film is about Jim Morrison, the frontman of the rock band of the same name. Val Kilmer plays Morrison in one of the best roles of any biopic. Val is the classic rock legend brought to life and it’s no surprise why this is one of his most viewed films. What makes the film great is that it doesn’t shy away from the truth. Jim Morrison was a very flawed man who fought some demons in his life.
The film shows all of his struggles in full glory and gives an authentic glimpse into the life of a troubled rock star. Val even sings himself in the film. Kilmer reportedly did such a great job singing that the actual members of The Doors couldn’t tell him from Morison’s actual voice.

It has suspense, humor and action and offers something for everyone.
