Beyoncé was barely in her twenties when her superstardom led to her most memorable film role as Foxxy Cleopatra in 2002 Austin Powers in Goldmember. But the 40-year-old megastar was way ahead of his time when sHe says she called the improper marketing decision to slim down her curvy body on the official movie poster.

Thanks to vulture Celebration On the 20th anniversary of the spy comedy, which focuses primarily on Beyoncé’s contributions to her character, fans are getting some highly relevant behind-the-scenes gems. Makeup artist Kate Biscoe spilled the beans on the notorious Austin Powers Movie poster signed by the publicity team and thought it was a done deal – until future Queen Bey dismissed the image and demanded a reissue.

“During filming, someone brought her a poster to promote the film. He showed her, like, ‘Do you like it?’ And she said something like, “Yeah.” He’s like, “What’s up?” And she says, “You made me too skinny. It’s not me.'” Then, according to Biscoe, the “Crazy In Love” singer simply gestured to her hourglass shape for reference, prompting the team member to admit that they had to go back to the drawing board and say, “Okay, we will.” fix that.”

Briscoe recalls that Beyoncé went back to work on the set after the exchange, leaving the makeup artist and the marketing director transfixed by what had just happened. “She walked away to do the scene and I looked at him and smiled like I was going, ‘Is this the first time an actress has asked you to make her body bigger?’ He said, ‘Yes. It’s going to cost me thousands of dollars, but I’m going to do it.’”

It turned out to be the right call – and kudos to a celebrity who had the foresight to be mindful of how their frame was marketed to impressionable young fans who might not always see through these photoshopped illusions.

The real catch here is that Beyoncé was already forced to lose weight for the film even before marketing executives decided to slim down for the poster. gold member Manufacturer John Lyons told Vulture that the Grammy winner had to go through a “really tough physical regime and diet” to prepare for the films and was limited to a calorie intake of 1200 per day. This is really crazy, but she looked amazing in the film and it actually boggles the mind that Hollywood still wanted her thinner.

Lyons went on to say that the star’s team at the time were “very aware of the expectations both the music business and Hollywood often have of what young, beautiful women should look like and were wise to use those ideas to their ends.”

Anyhow, it’s refreshing to know that even in the original phase, Beyoncé had the power to speak out and resist erasing what her mother gave her in beautiful abundance.
