Chris Hemsworth is back on the big screen with the release of Thor: Love and Thunder on July 8, 2022. The actor previously appeared on Netflix spider head, but the box office performance of this film cannot be judged given its home media premiere. However, the actor had many other films that proved to be commercial successes.

Hemsworth’s involvement in the Marvel Cinematic Universe results in him playing Thor in most of his biggest releases. Still, certain others like star trek also drew audiences to the theatre. 10 Men in Black: International (2019) – $253.9 million

While Men in Black: International Never really ranked among Chris Hemsworth’s best films, it had enough appeal to make an impression on the box. The film reunited Hemsworth with MCU co-star Tessa Thompson, with the actors playing MIB agents who uncover a mole in their ranks.

Men in Black: International made $253.9 million (according to Box Office Mojo), although that number was a far cry from the previous three films in the series, which were bigger hits. Although the main duo looked like they were having fun, the film suffers from too many gags and a lack of depth in the plot.


9 Star Trek (2009) – $385.7 million


This reboot is considered one of the best star trek Movies still, with an alternate timeline, where Captain Kirk befriends Spock to form the legendary team on their journey into space. Chris Hemsworth portrayed the protagonist’s father in one of his early appearances on the big screen.

With a gross of $385.7 million (according to Box Office Mojo) star trek turned out to be a success. Hemsworth didn’t have the most prominent role, but the storyline started because of his character’s actions. He would also return for a cameo appearance Star Trek Into Darkness Consequence.


8th Snow White and the Huntsman (2012) – $396.6 million

In reinterpreting the classic story Snow White and the Hunter shows a more significant role for the male protagonist. Hemsworth played the title chaser and went from chasing Snow White to her ally. The twist in the narrative was a bold move that paid off handsomely.

Snow White and the Hunter grossed $396.6 million (according to Box Office Mojo) and became one of the first hits in stories retold fantasy tales. Its success at both the domestic US box office and international markets made it good enough to commission a sequel to the title The Hunter: Winter Warwhich focused primarily on Hemsworth’s character.


7 Thor (2011) – $449.3 million


Thor is by far the best character played by Chris Hemsworth and the actor got his big break with the title film about the Norse god. Here Thor had to prove himself by regaining his powers after being banished by Odin for his hubris. Thor’s return to Asgard to confront his villainous brother Loki also adds to the film’s appeal.

MCU fans enjoyed Thor enough for the film to gross $449.3 million (according to Box Office Mojo), which puts Chris Hemsworth squarely in the A-list category. Thor was the MCU’s biggest hit at the time, barring that iron man Movies and the series has since climbed higher.


6 Thor: The Dark World (2013) – $644.8 million

The blockbuster reception The Avengers contributed to the own success of the following MCU entries, with Thor: The Dark World experienced a big leap from the original. It received mixed reviews overall, but many also liked the story of Thor fighting the Dark Elves to protect all of the Nine Realms.

Thor’s return to his solo series after a four-year hiatus proved to be worth the hype Thor: Ragnarok become the biggest success of the trilogy. The reviews were overwhelming, with the majority of critics praising Thor’s adventure of forming a team to take on his evil sister and save Asgard.

Thor: Ragnarok continued the MCU’s run at the box office, grossing a whopping $854 million (according to Box Office Mojo). The film also broke a lean patch for Hemsworth after the previous two years had yielded less than favorable returns for him in terms of commercial success.


4 Avengers: Age Of Ultron (2015) – $1.403 billion

As everyone expected Avengers: Age of Ultron became a blockbuster, with audiences flocking to the titular team’s next adventure. It saw the characters reuniting to defeat HYDRA before dealing with the megalomaniac AI menace known as Ultron.

Avengers: Age of Ultron may have grossed $1.403 billion (according to Box Office Mojo), but was slightly lower than its predecessor. Of course, any film that gross as much as age of ultron is more than successful and it became another success for Hemsworth to continue his fruitful collaboration with Marvel.




3 The Avengers (2012) – $1.519 billion

Chris Hemsworth got his first taste of billion dollar success with The Avengers, which exceeded even the highest predictions. It brought together all six main heroes who had individual exploits in the MCU until Loki’s invasion forced them to band together to become Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.

The Avengers became one of the highest-grossing films of all time, grossing $1.519 billion (according to Box Office Mojo). Hemsworth continued his chemistry with Tom Hiddleston’s Loki for the film, marking the actor’s first collaboration with the series’ other leads.


2 Avengers: Infinity War (2018) – $2.048 billion

A good contender for the darkest MCU film yet, Thanos’ quest to complete the gauntlet cost half of all life in the universe. Avengers: Infinity War had brought together every major hero of the series to try and stop the Mad Titan, with Thor becoming Thanos’ nemesis for killing the Asgardians.

Avengers Infinity War broke many records upon release, grossing $2.048 billion (according to Box Office Mojo). It remains one of the few films to surpass the $2 billion mark, although its success was a given as the previous films had set up the conquest of Thanos very well.


1 Avengers: Endgame (2019) – $2.798 billion


The conclusion to the Infinity saga in the MCU was understandably the biggest blockbuster yet. The Avengers have finally turned against Thanos Avengers: Endgame, where they pulled off the time heist to bring everyone back to life. Thor also had a personal slur in overcoming his depression after killing Thanos too late to prevent the snap.

Avengers: Endgame grossed a staggering $2.798 billion (according to Box Office Mojo), making it the highest-grossing film ever made – later surpassed by the re-release of avatar. As one of the main heroes, Hemsworth benefited from this Avengers: Endgame‘s success, with much of the film’s popularity being attributed to its engagement.
