Thor: Love and Thunder hit theaters this weekend and made the third-biggest theatrical opening of the year, as well as the biggest opening for a Thor movie. However, there is another film in theaters that is still going strong. Minions: The Rise of Gru was released last week and managed to hit record-breaking box office numbers over the weekend of July 4th. After day one of over $48 million for minions 2, The film, which is the best of a pandemic-era for an animated feature, topped the Independence Day weekend record set by Paramount Transformers: The Last Knight back in 2011. The film has a respectable 72% “fresh” rating on Rotten Tomatoes, but it seems it’s the TikTok trend “GentleMinions” that’s really boosting sales. Not only do teenagers don suits to see the animated film, but it is bombarded with back reviews and currently has a 90% viewership on Rotten Tomatoes. Now, Minions: The Rise of Gru has achieved another milestone at the box office by surpassing $400 million worldwide.

Corresponding meeting, Minions: The Rise of Gru has earned $189.8 million overseas, bringing his worldwide total to $399.9 million. That weekend, the animated film grossed $45.55 million domestically.

Minions: The Rise of Gru still has a way up minions (2015) at the box office, but it’s looking promising. The last Minions outing raised $1,159,398,397 worldwide. However, The Rise of Gru has a significant improvement over minions when it comes to grades. The final film received a 55% critic rating on Rotten Tomatoes I – Despicable Me 3 earns 59%. However, it falls short of the franchise’s first two installments, which yielded 81% and 75%, respectively. Alongside Steve Carell, the film features the vocal talents of Taraji P.
