Jamie Foxx has signed on to star in JJ Perry’s new Netflix original action film day shiftwhich premieres on August 12. The film was produced by Chad Stahelski and written by Tyler Tice and Shay Hatten.

day shift surrounds Bud (Jamie), a Los Angeles pool cleaner who desperately needs money to pay for his young daughter’s most important bills. But his main job is just a cover for his side job as a vampire hunter.

The upcoming film also stars Dave Franco and West Coast rap legend Snoop Dogg, whose role has been described in press materials as a “cowboy vampire slayer.”

Foxx, who was also an executive producer day shiftHis relationship with Netflix began in February 2021 when he was cast in the sitcom Dad, stop embarrassing me! Due to his father-daughter relationship with his daughter Corinne Foxx, the eight-episode series was not renewed for a second season.

Another Netflix-related movie that comes out of a can for Foxx is They cloned Tyrone a Science fiction film set for release sometime later this year.

Before that, the Oscar winner was an actor. In December 2021, Foxx joined the cast of Spider-Man: No Way Home as electric. In late 2020, he starred in the award-winning animated film Soul. He will appear in the adult live-action comedy, strayDirected by Hits Cinemas on June 9, 2023.

Additionally, Foxx entered into a brand partnership with Brown Sugar Bourbon.

Foxx recently released the album Hollywood: A Tale of a Dozen Roses in 2015. Rated R&B celebrated the 15th anniversary of their 2005 classic Unpredictable Late 2020. Several key turntables offered commentary including Mike City, Sean Garrett, Kenny Bereal, Mr. Collipark and others.

“I think a lot of emotion went into this album, which made it timeless for me,” Bereal told Rated R&B.

“He surrounded himself with some very talented songwriters and producers from that school of true musicianship. There were some really talented singers around him during this album that made it amazing.”

Dogg recently released co-headliner Super Bowl LVI. He was joined by several hip-hop figures, including Mary J. Blige. Before that, he worked with Blige (“Diamond Life”) on his 2021 album Snoop Dogg presents algorithm. Usher also joined the project on the track “New Oldie,” which featured Eric Bellinger.
