Holy Seiya follows an orphan named Seiya on his journey to become a warrior for the goddess Athena. After Seiya is forced to travel to Athena’s Sanctuary where he obtains the Bronze Pegasus Cloth worn by Athena’s warriors, Seiya learns that his sister has disappeared. If Seiya can win the Galaxian Wars tournament for the ultra-strong Sagittarius Cloth of Gold, the reincarnation of Athena will help Seiya find his sister. Despite its sci-fi setting, the series is loosely based on Greek mythology, in which gods like Athena, Poseidon, and Hades engage in intergalactic battles of epic proportions.
Select seasons of the original Holy Seiya are available on Crunchyroll. The reboot series is available on Netflix.
