Family Pizza and Paint Party

Screening on the green at W Hoboken

W Hotels of New York in Hoboken is hosting a “silent” night outdoors, but not the kind of silent movie you’re thinking. For this movie night, Sound Off Entertainment will premiere “Grease” with each guest receiving a headset for the Thursday 21st July event.

Food and drinks can be purchased from the terrace bar while the film is being shown on the lawn. Seating is limited. The event starts at 8:30pm and the film starts at 9pm

The Entrepreneur Social Brunch and Open Day

Jersey City’s BathHaus is hosting a brunch & open house on Saturday 16 July from 2pm to 8pm with food provided by celebrity chef Dorsey Britton.

For the event, VIP ticket holders have the opportunity to meet and greet Chef Dorsey, and also have access to the rooftop terrace, indoor pool, lounge and bottomless brunch and mimosas.

Some of the dishes served include chicken and waffles, shrimp and grits, fish fry and salmon cakes, among others. The event will also include giveaways and networking opportunities.

Healthcare and social workers wanted

Hudson County Community College will host its Summer Career Fair on Tuesday, July 19 from 12 noon to 3 p.m. at the HCCC Culinary Conference Center, also known as the E Building. Employers present at the show will represent Hudson County health and social service providers.

Participants should be dressed in business attire and have five copies of their CV and an HCCC ID card. The HCCC Culinary Conference Center is located at 161 Newkirk St., Jersey City.

History programs at Liberty State Park

History programs at Liberty State Park continue on Wednesday, July 20 with the Historic Trilogy from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Known as the Historic Trilogy, the landmarks consist of the CRRNJ Terminal, the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. The program at LSP follows in the footsteps of the immigrant experience and debunks long-held myths often attributed to Ellis Island with a 90-minute Power Point presentation and discussion. Visitors can meet at the information desk in the CRRNJ terminal. The program is recommended for ages 10 and up.

Advance registration is required for all programs at Liberty State Park due to limited space. Pets are not allowed on programs unless they are service animals.

Social Psychiatrist talks about major roads and how they connect us

Social psychiatrist and professor of urban policy and health at The New School, Dr. Mindy Fullilove will be speaking at the Hoboken Historical Museum in the Shipyard Park Passageway on Sunday, July 17 at 5 p.m

The talk “Main Street: How a City’s Heart Connects Us All” asks how main streets like Washington Street in Hoboken bring us together.

Fullilove searched 178 cities in 14 countries for 11 years to answer this question. In her travels she observed the architecture and dramas of these high streets and how they can help us heal from the pandemic.

Her talk is intended to complement the Hoboken Museum’s current exhibition “The Avenue” at the Main Gallery and the exhibition “When We Were Young” at the Upper Gallery, which features Kodachrome street photography by Hoboken’s Carol Halebian from the late 1970s and early 1980s.

Disney sing-along for the whole family

The West Hudson Arts & Theater Company continues their Summer Stage Outdoor Community Arts Series with a family sing-along “We Love Disney” on Saturday, July 16 at 7 p.m. on the lawn of VFW Post 1302 at 300 Belgrove Dr., Kearny, gone.

The family-friendly sing-along will feature famous Disney songs and costumes are encouraged. You can bring a picnic along with beach chairs or a blanket. Admission is a suggested $10 donation, which can be paid at the gate. No alcohol is allowed.
