Even one of Ree’s favorite movies is an Oklahoma classic—Oklahoma!, based on the musical by the duo Rodgers and Hammerstein. “When I first saw the film, I was in sixth grade with my friend Carrie and I was hooked,” says Ree. “Of course I knew a lot of the songs as they were on the airwaves in the region I grew up in. It’s so wholesome and fun and celebrates song, dance, love and the wildness of Oklahoma.” Just like Ree, these movies and shows will make you fall in love with the Southwest all over again. Little Britches Rodeo (Seasons 5 to 8)

This reality series is just so darn cute. Children ages 8 to 18 aspire to become the best cowboys and cowgirls in the country by competing in rodeo events. Family is key to attending National Little Britches Rodeo Association events – the Drummond kids would definitely have fit in if they ever attended!

Holly Hunter stars in a crime drama series about a badass Oklahoma City detective who investigates serious crimes. Her self-destructive tendencies are the central foil of the character.

You probably remember reading this coming-of-age book (written when the author was in high school!) during your high school English class, and its themes still resonate with teenagers today: class differences, individual Identity, family and lost innocence in childhood. The film stars a lot of swooning 1980s rising stars.
