Avengers: Endgame Directors Joe and Anthony Russo are in the midst of the Netflix release of The gray manthe second film they have directed since completing the Thanos and Infinity Stones storyline.
The brothers still work closely with their Marvel Cinematic Universe stars, but would they ever return to the MCU?
The couple was asked about this The gray man premiere through meetingand while they didn’t provide a definitive answer either way, they did say that they were indeed tempted by a certain comic book story that would eclipse their previous films.

“Our love for Marvel is based on the books we read as kids, the books we fell in love with,” Joe said.
“The one show we adored growing up was Secret Wars. It’s incredibly ambitious. It would be bigger than Infinite War and endgame. But it’s a massive undertaking.
“These two films were very difficult to make. So are you trying to imagine doing two more films that are even bigger than these two? We have to sleep on that.”

For now, the MCU is focused on smaller, less connected adventures rather than rushing to bring everyone back together to once again stop a reality-ending threat, though there are still some ongoing storylines that could point to the franchise’s overall direction.
Meanwhile, the last episode of the Disney+ series Mrs Miracle ends with a pretty big reveal: that mutants do indeed exist in the main timeline, with the main character Kamala being one, rather than being an already established brute.
